Waiting in an Airport? Here’s how to Spend your Time

If you’ve been travelling recently, you’ll know that some airports are much better than others. Every now and then you’ll find one that actually seems specifically designed for the millions of travellers that pass through each year, but for the most part, airports are never a fun place to be.

I’ve always found airports in Asia to be some of the best, and they definitely outshine any airports in the United States. If you’ll be spending time in an airport soon, here’s some ways to make it a little more fun or productive, and ensure that you don’t end up completely bored during that long layover:

Get working

If you’re going on vacation, there are probably a few things you could be doing to ensure that you have more free time on the trip. Whether it’s last-minute emails, setting up an auto-responder, or letting top clients know that you’ll be away from your email, if you have some time at the airport, you’ll be in the perfect place to get it done. There’s nothing like getting on a plane and knowing that you’ve done absolutely everything you can to ensure you enjoy your vacation.

Get Snacking

If you’re flying domestically, or even overseas on a low-cost airline, you can definitely assume that your meal onboard will either be non-existent, or probably not too great. As soon as you get through security, load up on some snacks so you won’t arrive at your destination feeling completely ravenous and exhausted.

Sure, you should definitely treat yourself to a candy bar or some pretzels, but ideally you want to be getting some healthy fats and protein into your diet to keep your mood stabilised and hunger pangs at bay. Choose carrots with hummus, cheese sticks, protein bars, nuts, and of course, plenty of water (ditch the booze for now or you’ll arrive feeling terrible).

Get Playing

Once you’ve finished your work and sorted your snacks, you’ll probably find yourself with a bunch of free time on your hands. If you haven’t yet spent time playing online games, now’s the time to start! Some on the hot titles of the moment are Wonderputt, Frog Fractions, and Life in the West, Game of Bombs, Die 2 Nite and Samorost.

If you prefer some serious actions then play casino games at Magical Vegas! Some freshly out of the Strip slots titles, Live Casino games, Roulette games and many other table games is what you can play in the palm of your hands anytime and anywhere. If you have a title in mind, simply search the game in the search bar or look for the game by going for the different sub-categories.

Get Relaxing

The relaxing part of your vacation doesn’t need to wait until you’ve actually arrived at your destination. If your airport has a spa and you have a few hours to wait, then go ahead and pamper yourself at the Spa! Get your nails done or spring for a facial or massage. You’ll feel great as you step onto the plane, and far more relaxed than the people who have rushed through security and run through the airport at the last minute.

No spa? Begin watching a movie or reading a book you’ve been thinking about picking up. This will signal to your brain that it’s no longer time to think about work, and instead you’ll be relaxing.
